Family Stays

Create beautiful memories

We were once a family home, so making sure that our younger guests have the time of their lives is really important to us.

Making the most of precious family time is high on everyone's list, and being together getting stuck in to activities that grandparents, parents and children can all enjoy will create lasting memories. Our 10 acres are your playground, and St Andrews and North-East Fife has so much to offer. We want to help you explore it all.

Troll Trail

If you decide to stay put, take them out into the garden to find hidden corners and lots of surprises. Our little Rufus uncovered one of Rufflets' biggest secrets during lockdown - we have resident TROLLS! A magical troll trail will be installed later in 2023 in honour of our grouchy and mysterious neighbours, and we'll be inviting your children to go forth bravely with map in hand.

Who's Rufus?

Have you met Rufus? 25 years ago Rufflets owner, Ann had been to stay at Kinaird House in Perthshire where they had some interesting ideas about the special touches that go to enhance the guests' experience, and it was then that they decided to introduce a Rufflets 'Care Bear', and so Rufus was born! In the first year, over 40 of Rufus' twins were adopted by our guests, and he is still popular today as a memento to take home, complete with adoption certificate. Over the years, we've had lots of photos and postcards sent to us from Rufus on his travel. He has been on the Orient Express, been surfing in Hawaii, on holiday in Dubai and snow boarding in Colorado.

And then to bed...

Whether they've been on the beach having a water sports experience, or out in the garden meeting Rufflets' big brood of hens, your children will sleep soundly after a hearty dinner and a big deep bath in one of our specially designed family suites. Featuring self-contained second bedrooms for the little ones, parents can still enjoy some peace and relaxation later in the evening.
