Rufflets Newsletter: December 2015

Rufflets News

Despite achieving many accolades this year, Rufflets is looking forward to 2016. This year we focussed our refurbishment plans on the public areas throughout the hotel, creating a new lounge bar that incorporates the old Library with comfortable seating and a relaxed ambience to enjoy afternoon tea or sample the vast array of malt whiskies and gins on offer.

January 2016 will see the completion of a rolling refurbishment for bedrooms and bathrooms in the main house and our Terrace Restaurant will be refreshed with a new carpet and paintwork.

Chef Grant MacNicol has created a delicious a la carte menu for our Terrace Restaurant and looks to use only the best local food producers to help create dishes which highlight the fantastic ingredients found in Fife and Scotland. We can also boast “zero food miles” for the herbs, vegetables and soft fruits grown in our grounds and Chef and our gardener work together to supply the kitchen with a range of fresh produce all year round. This has been recognised by VisitScotland in 2015 who awarded ‘Taste our Best’ for use of Scotland’s’ Larder, presentation, quality and service standards.

To complement the menu, our award-winning wine list offers a range of approximately 100 wines from around the world, including a half bottle selection.

Outlander Experience

Filming for Season 2 of the phenomenon that is Outlander has been taking place at Culross in Fife and other locations across Scotland and the suspense for the launch in Spring 2016 is nearly at fever pitch.

We can assist with offering an unforgettable Outlander Experience for your clients who will journey back in time to 1743 and follow in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie, exploring the land that inspired Diana Gabaldon’s books. A number of locations are within an hours drive of Rufflets and itineraries can include the locations featured as Cranesmuir, Black Jack Randall’s Stronghold and Castle MacRannock.

Fly Direct to Scotland

We are delighted that Delta have announced a new route from JFK to Edinburgh from May 2016, adding to the growing list of flights direct to Scotland, avoiding the major European airport hubs such as London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Air Transat and Air Canada Rouge will also be scheduling direct flights from Montréal and Toronto to Glasgow from Spring 2016.

The transfer time from Edinburgh Airport to Rufflets is only 1 hour, and 1 hour 45 minutes to Glasgow Airport. We can arrange transfers for your clients from either airport with our preferred partners at favourable rates.
