Our team has been working tirelessly to set new standards of hygiene and safety for all our returning guests.  We have introduced a comprehensive hospitality cleaning protocol that we simply call “Stay Safe”.  Rufflets and over 300 other businesses in St Andrews have collaborated to create the STAY SAFE St Andrews COVID Charter which sets out our commitment to implementing best practice in the steps taken to safeguard visitors, staff and our community.  We are also proud to be accredited by the Visit Scotland ‘We’re Good To Go’ initiative, and the AA COVID-19 Confident initiative.

  • We have introduced sanitising stations in all key touch points for guests and team members
  • We clean with antimicrobial sanitisers. We also use electrostatic sprayers that are successful in destroying bacteria and viruses
  • Enhanced specialised disinfection and cleaning of all bedrooms, restaurant, lounges, public areas, and kitchen
  • Each bedroom has been sanitised before guest’s arrival and team members will not be allowed to enter until departure. As such, refreshes are currently suspended and fresh towelling available on request
  • All collateral material and ‘frequent touch’ items have been removed from bedrooms to reduce the risk of contamination
  • Hygiene and safety guidelines are revised weekly, according to the latest UK and Scottish Governments guidelines

  • All food and drinks can be pre-ordered for convenience
  • Rufflets cooked and a la carte breakfast hampers available all morning
  • Dining seating options throughout Rufflets treasured spaces: from the comfort of our restaurant to a picnic among the trees, to the cosy lounges and bar and the terrace, warmly lit by our patio heaters

  • All Rufflets Team members have undertaken a comprehensive training on our Stay Safe protocol
  • Temperature checks will be carried out daily before entering the hotel and team members will be required to return home if their temperature is above the guideline
  • A wide-ranging risk assessment has been carried out and health safety measures introduced
  • As appropriate, team members will wear PPE to protect our guests and colleagues
  • ‘One-way routes’ for team members

  • Rufflets has made safe provision to operate as a ‘1-meter zone’
  • ‘One-way routes’ for guests
  • A text messaging service is available to facilitate the arrival welcome within safe distance
  • Quick and easy ‘minimum contact’ check- in and check-out
  • Clear, yet unobtrusive, signage and markings to promote appropriate self-distancing

  • Rufflets will be ‘cash-free’, with card/contactless payment only
  • Card machines (POS terminals) will be sanitised after each use and guests’ cards will not be touched by our team
  • To simplify arrival and departure, guests will be asked to authorise the charge of the full ‘cost of stay’ to their credit card in advance, just like an ‘express check-out’
