Fife Outdoors

Only an hour from the urban Central Belt, St Andrews and Fife feel a world away.  Miles of unspoiled coastline, beautiful beaches, forests and open countryside make our small county a compact escape from city life.  There are abundant opportunities to make the most of Fife’s dry sunny climate and enjoy walking, cycling, golf and water sports during your visit.

Once you are settled in, an easy first port of call is one of Fife’s many award-winning beaches.  St Andrews’ own East and West Sands beaches are a five minute drive away, and it’s not difficult to see why thousands of visitors flock to them every year!  West Sands is the home of water sports experts Blown Away, specializing in land yachting, kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing – ideal if you are in search of an action-packed outdoor experience.

For something refreshing but a little more relaxing, the Fife Coastal Path offers unrivaled views of the North East Fife and East Neuk coastline.  The path can be walked in a variety of shorter sections so you can decide how far you want to roam, and the routes take in lots of beautiful inlets which offer exciting beach-combing opportunities for children.

If two wheels is your preference, look no further than Rufflets Bicycle Hire service.  A full day hire of one of our beautiful Marin bikes is just £20.00, and if you venture into St Andrews to take in the sights, you can breath a sigh of relief as you park effortlessly and free of charge.  North East Fife and the East Neuk benefit from some wonderful parts of the National Cycle Network so you can really stretch your legs if you want to cover more miles and feel the wind in your hair.
