How far are you from St Andrews?
Rufflets is 1.5 miles from St Andrews town centre. A taxi into the town will cost in the region of £6 and the No.64 bus service stops on request at the entrance to the hotel bi-hourly.
Walking into St Andrews will take about 30-40 minutes, the first quarter of a mile does not have an accessible footpath and then you can choose to take the main foot path or the picturesque Lade Braes walk.
Do you have a lift/elevator?
Unfortunately not. The bedrooms in the main house are situated on the first and second floors, only accessible by stairs. Please advise our Reservations team at the time of booking if you would prefer a more easily accessible room on the first floor.
The bedrooms in Rufflets Lodge and the Gatehouse are on ground level throughout and there is parking available next to both properties.
Room 1 in the Gatehouse is designed for guests with mobility restrictions (Walking Disabled classification) and is equipped with grab rails in the bathroom and a seat in the shower. There are plans for this bathroom to be converted to a wet room.
Our self-catering properties have steps at the entrance to the front doors but are ground level internally.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
We guarantee that your room will be ready by 2.00pm and ask that you vacate your room by 11.00am on the day of departure. Late check-outs may be available on request.
Early check-ins can be requested but unfortunately, not guaranteed.
Guests attending a wedding at Rufflets are made a priority on the day so please let us know your estimated time of arrival and we will do our best to accommodate you prior to 2.00pm.
Please note that we cannot offer a changing room for Wedding guests.
Self-catering check-in is from 4.00pm, vacating by 10.00am on the day of departure.
What leisure facilities are there at Rufflets and the surrounding area?
Rufflets does not have a spa, swimming pool, gym or golf course on site but we have some excellent recommendations which we can share with you on request.

Can you get me a tee time on the Old Course?
There are several options for playing the Old Course:
Rufflets is allocated a small number of guaranteed tee times for the Old Course on an annual basis which apply for the high season.
For the low season we offer a Winter Golf Break which includes play on the Old Course.
A 48 hour ballot system is also available which we are more than happy to assist with prior to your arrival or during your stay.
Alternatively, you can apply direct to St Andrews Links Trust through their Advanced Reservations process.
Please let us know if you require assistance with booking a tee time on any of Fife’s fantastic courses. We can also help with arranging caddies, golf rentals and transfers.
Can we bring our dog?
Well behaved dogs are more than welcome in our external properties with a maximum of two per room. Please visit our Dog Friendly page for more information.
Can you cater for dietary requirements and allergies?
Chef David Kinnes and his team are more than happy to adapt any dishes on our menus or create a specific meal around individual dietaries and allergies, with prior knowledge of a guest requirements.
Our Housekeeping team can also provide suitable bedding for your stay with prior knowledge of allergies.

Can you provide an additional child's bed or cot?
A number of our rooms can accommodate an additional bed for a child and/or a cot. Please note that roll away beds are designed for use by children and are not suitable for adults. Please check with our Reservations team when making your booking.
What is the recipe for your amazing shortbread?
It’s a secret!! The only person who knows how to make Rufflets’ shortbread is our Breakfast Chef, John-Paul Senkel who, in his 19 years of working with us has produced 12,000 kg of this tasty treat to date!
